What is included in the CSPO class?

You learn live with Eric Tucker, a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer. The class covers the Product Owner role, connecting customer needs to product goals, and deciding what to build next. You practice explaining priorities and making tradeoffs, rather than simply filling a backlog.

Your registration includes the required 16 hours of training, materials, interactive exercises, and the AI practice described below. Complete the training and accept Scrum Alliance’s license agreement to earn your CSPO certification. Paying for a seat alone does not complete those requirements.

What will you actually do with AI?

We use AI throughout the product workflow. The approach is tool agnostic: the useful skill is asking better questions, checking the evidence, and deciding what to do next.

Product decisionWhat you practice with AIWhat you still need to check
Which idea is worth exploring?Generate product ideas and investigate market viabilityWhether the problem exists and people care enough to act
Who matters and what do they need?Identify stakeholders, desired outcomes, and possible personasWhether those descriptions match real people
What should we learn first?Identify risky assumptions and design testsWhat evidence would support or reject the assumption
Where are we going?Develop a product vision and product goalsWhether the goal is useful, specific, and measurable
What should we deliver next?Build a story map, explore release plans, and prioritizeDependencies, effort, constraints, and the smallest useful outcome

You keep your completed work and prompts, with continued access to the AI workspace after class. That gives you something concrete to revisit when a stakeholder asks for another feature or priorities change.

Example: decide what to test before building

Imagine you are exploring a scheduling tool for a small service business. An AI assistant suggests automated reminders. Before adding that feature to a release plan, ask:

We are exploring a scheduling tool for a small service business. We suspect missed appointments are a problem, but have not validated that assumption. List three assumptions behind adding automated reminders. For each, suggest a low-cost test, who we should learn from, and evidence that would make us stop or change direction. Separate known facts from guesses. Do not invent customer research or market statistics.

A useful next step might be reviewing anonymized appointment records and interviewing staff before building anything. If missed appointments are rare and rescheduling causes most of the work, your first release may need a different focus. The value is in improving the decision, not accepting the first AI suggestion.

Use fictional or appropriately anonymized examples; keep customer and company confidential information out of tools you are not authorized to use. Explore the full workflow in AI for Product Owners: practical examples and prompts.

Is there a separate CSPO exam fee?

No. Scrum Alliance currently requires successful attendance at the 16-hour course and acceptance of its license agreement, with no CSPO test. See its official CSPO test guidance.

Plan for full attendance and participation. Check the daily hours and time zone on your chosen class, and protect that time from work meetings.

What does CSPO renewal cost?

Standard foundational renewal currently costs $100 and requires 20 SEUs every two years. SEUs record continuing learning. They are separate from the fee.

If you hold several certifications, do not simply add a renewal fee for each one. Scrum Alliance bases the fee on your highest certification level, and additional SEUs may apply. Other renewal routes are available; check the official renewal guidance and your account.

At current prices, a $399 class plus one standard $100 renewal totals $499. This is a budgeting example, not a prepaid package or a promise about future prices. Review any applicable checkout charges and account for your time.
